4505 Burgers and BBQ

  • Casual BBQ – $$
  • Best Dishes:
    • Brisket
    • Pulled Pork Sandwich
  • Best For: Casual Lunch/Dinner, Patio, No Reservations
  • There aren’t too many BBQ places in San Francisco and I hear that this one is one of the best. They don’t take reservations, so if you come here on a weekend there will be a line around the corner, but it doesn’t take too long. There are communal tables out on their large patio area- the perfect place to enjoy the nice weather and grab some BBQ.

Bar Crudo

  • Intimate, Trendy Seafood – $$$
  • Best For: Happy hour! Date, Nice Dinner
  • They have a great happy hour deal – 5:00 – 6:30 $1 oysters + deals on other small plates and drinks. I have heard the food here is really good, but don’t come starving because the plates are really small. Small location, romantic atmosphere.

  • Market + CREAMERY!! – $
  • Bi-Rite Market, but they have a creamery inside with all the normal ice cream flavors. Bi- Rite is hands down the best ice cream in San Francisco. Come to this location because there’s not usually a line, whereas the spot in the Mission will always have a good 15 minute wait no matter when you go.
  • Disclaimer- I went last Saturday when the weather was really nice and there was a 10 minute wait here, so I take back what I said about there usually not being a line. Still will reiterate that it is worth the wait though!

Brenda’s Meat and Three

  • Louisiana Soul Food – $$
  • Sister restaurant to Brenda’s French Soul Food off Polk.
  • Think fried, smothered, and glazed haha- the food here is the opposite of healthy, but a lot of people rave about it! For their dinner menu you choose 1 type of meat and 3 sides, or you can order a la carte. No reservations, there will probably be a bit of a wait.

  • Casual, Trendy Mexican – $$
  • Best For: Taco Tuesday! Casual Dinner, Groups, Happy Hour, Mexican
  • 4:00 – 6:00 M-F is taco happy hour! $2 tacos! This place is somewhat of a converted warehouse – you order at the bar and there are a few large tables where you can grab a seat. Great location if you want to hang out with some friends. Get their frozen margarita, so good!
  • Also La Urbana  is connected to El Mercado – the food is just as good, but it’s way less casual, larger menu, you order with a waiter, ect.

  • Upscale American – $$
  • Best For: Nice Brunch/Dinner, Drinks, Date
  • Cool atmosphere- kind of a bar-ish vibe with bar seating and a few large high top communal tables. The cocktails here and supposed to be really good. Food is really good as well, get the duck sliders.

NOPA – YAAAS (8.2)

  • Trendy American – $$$
  • Best Dishes:
    • Custard French Toast
    • Fried Brussels Sprouts
    • Baked Beans
    • Flatbread
    • Veggie Tagine
    • Papparadelle
  • Best For: Nice Brunch/Dinner, Date, Parent Dinner, Business Meal, Trendy
  • This is definitely a SF hot spot. Cool atmosphere- really high ceilings and trendy decor. Have to point out that the service here is great, the other week when I grabbed brunch with my roommate and her eggs came out overcooked (the yolk wasn’t runny…wut), she mentioned something to the waiter and he apologized and got it fixed right away.
  • You will need a reservation if you are going for dinner, but their communal tables and bar area are first come first serve! If you come right before they close for brunch (3:00) you will probably be able to snag a table without a long wait, but will have to order quickly. Regardless I would suggest their dinner over brunch, brunch is good but a little underwhelming.

  • Charming French – $$
  • Must Order:
    • Gingerbread French Toast!!
  • Best For: Nice Brunch, Romantic Dinner Date, Patio, Brunch Hot Spot, No Reservations (for brunch)
  • Really cute, intimate restaurant. They have a nice little patio in the back that is strung up with lights. You should come here for brunch! No reservations, expect a pretty long wait so try and come with a smaller group and not at prime brunch time.
