That new new.
Mezcalito – Russian Hill
Mezcalito is one of my favorite new restaurants in San Francisco! It’s located right on Polk street in Russian Hill. It is a full restaurant/bar so you can come here to grab dinner at one of their comfy booths or snag a spot at the bar/communal tables for a more low key setting to enjoy a marg and some guac (the essentials).
New Food Delivery
First off, who doesn’t like food delivery? SF has become the mecca for all these really cool services that satisfy my inner laziness – food delivery and gas on demand are my personal favorites (check out the app booster for gas…it’s amazing). Don’t get me wrong I love cooking, but there is something so satisfying about delicious food coming directly to your door – no dish washing required.
San Francisco is a haven for foodies. So many amazing restaurants within a few miles of each other #blessed. All these places are seriously amazing for one reason or another, but the one thing they do have in common is difficulty in getting a reservation. So read up, go online, and make your coveted reservations for 30 days out on a Tuesday at 9 pm….good food is worth it right?? But seriously if anyone can get a reservation to State Bird, I’m a great addition to the dinner table and my calendar is open.
Brentwood is the perfect area for young adults who are starting the whole family/real life chapter. You know those people who moved from Santa Monica, and used that 2 mile move to draw a line in the proverbial sand saying “I’m an actual adult now” not the post-college “I’m an adult” stage where you still call your parents for insurance/cooking questions and you keep talking about how you can’t believe you’re an adult. While I am in the latter group, I still think Brentwood is awesome. Awesome in all aspects minus parking tickets – anyone who has driven in Brentwood knows what I mean. Those parking enforcement people take pride in writing you a ticket the minute your time runs out. Regardless for those of us in the first “I’m an adult” stage, there are still so many reasons to venture into Brentwood.
Santa Monica is the key to success in LA. If only it didn’t take an hour to go a mile in rush hour, then I would have nothing bad to say about it, but I guess we all can’t get what we want in life. Regardless if you look past the traffic and avoid some of the overly touristy spots (3rd street promenade), Santa Monica has some of the best: restaurants- Cassia, Milo & Olive, and Forma are my personal favorites, views – from The Penthouse and the top level of parking structure 2 haha, bars – if you haven’t made it to Bungalow have you really even experienced LA?, and beaches (eh…that’s a stretch, but it’s way closer than Malibu so no complaints). Below are my favorite places to grab food in SM!
Hayes Valley is a hidden gem of neighborhood, it is like the Marina matured a little bit past the fratty college stage, and blossomed into an underrated adult-ish haven where you don’t have to walk past the bar you stumbled out of at 3 am the night before (Brixton…guilty). Hayes really does have it all- chicken cooked to perfection at Zuni Cafe, sashimi on point at Domo, shopping at Rand & Statler and Azalea, steins of beer at Biergarten, the perfect setting for a glass of wine at Fig & thistle, and to top it off multiple options for post-dinner ice cream – Smitten and Loving Cup I am referring to you…what else does one need in life? I obviously recommend every place below but I have to reiterate everyone should go to Domo. Just go.
Venice, California…the land of the hipsters. Hipsters who know how to cook and bake like no one else, and they also know how to decorate, but make you feel like they didn’t really decorate because that’s so not trendy. You can probably stumble into any bakery or unassuming restaurant to find amazing food with meticulous thought behind every aspect of the cooking and plating, but not every brick building without a sign (although some will…*cough cough gjelina*) will lead you to good food. Here are some of my favorite spots to eat and drink in Venice.
Personally my favorite Happy Hour spots in San Francisco are: Umami, Bar Crudo, Palm House, Ichi Sushi, Amelie, El Techo, and Jones but below is a more extensive list with all the details for each place! 🙂
